🇺🇸 Summer Camps

Summer camps in the United States

The American summer camp is the original: lakeside cabins, campfires, sport at all hours and a camp spirit perfected over generations. For teenagers hungry for a big experience.

The movie-perfect American summer

Wooden cabins by a lake, the camp flag, marshmallow campfires, team tournaments… The American summer camp is not a film set: it is a century-old institution and still the most complete summer experience a teenager can live.

The variety is immense: traditional multi-activity camps, top-level sports programmes, STEM camps, performing arts, filmmaking… And for older teens, university campuses where they sleep in a real college dorm at 15 or 16.

Far away, never alone

I understand the vertigo of sending your child across the Atlantic — I’m a mother too. That’s why I only work with veteran, accredited camps with serious supervision and communication protocols. We organise the trip together and during the stay I keep track of everything, with regular news and a phone that always answers.

Feels too far to start? Ireland and the UK are the perfect first step. Already convinced? The school year in the USA is the next chapter.

FAQ

Frequently asked questions

How is an American camp different from a European one?

Tradition and scale: American camps have run for generations, with huge facilities (lakes, stables, theatres) and unique activities — waterski, robotics, filmmaking, musicals. And the share of Spanish speakers is minimal.

Is it safe to send my child so far away?

The camps I work with are veteran, accredited (American Camp Association) and supervised 24/7. Travel is arranged with escorts or unaccompanied-minor service and guaranteed pickup — and I follow the stay closely.

Is a visa needed for the summer?

Short camps usually run on ESTA (electronic authorisation); some long academic programmes may require a student visa. I make it clear for your chosen programme and help with the process.

What English level is needed?

For multi-activity camps, intermediate is enough — camp life does the rest. Academic or themed campuses (debate, STEM) call for a higher level. We assess it together.

Does it prepare for the school year in the USA?

It's the best possible trial: your child discovers the country, the lifestyle and the real language, and you see how they cope. Many of my school-year families started exactly like this.
